Is New Mahalo Answers Widget Massive Link Builder?
Mahalo means thanks or gratitude in Hawaiian and I guess that's what founder Jason Calacanis is saying to all the people who install their new Answers widget.
Not only that it also takes anyone who uses this widget on their site over to Mahalo. Nice one guys - link building and traffic hijacking all in one friendly format.
Jason, in case you are new to widgets, the good ones may have a link in them, but they usually function totally on the site that embeds them. With a little more work it could have been a decent addition to a website. Jason, how about tweaking it and allowing the entire thing to stay on the user's site. Offer a little customization so it fits into the site's look and feel.
As is, it is pretty heavy handed. Jason announced the launch on Twitter. And a few minutes later was sipping port.

The real goal is to get people direct questions which we think will make them money. So, if you have a blog about SEO or wine you could offer to answers questions for $5 to $25 each.
This is just the start in terms of the widget. We will have something like you're talking about where the users don't have to leave your site i think... we have a lot of work to do with that--it will take time.

He can just buy me a port next conference we are at together... if in NYC know just the place and just the port
Next search conference I will bring a *sick* port and we can do a drinking panel where we finish off a bottle of port while talking off the record... that would be a conference first!

would be even better if you handed out a bottle to everyone who asks a good question (in addition to saving a few for the conf/speaker team!)
